Health & Safety
The Office of Risk Management provides services to promote
a safe and healthful environment for the university community. These services
are designed to assist Terra Dotta University in achieving their teaching,
research, and service objectives with effective, efficient, and safe operations. Our staff strive to remain in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards in all TDU processes. The Office of Risk Management is committed to:
- Be an organization that advances the highest level of safety awareness and promotes best practices
- Be aggressive in pursuing prevention and resolution of unsafe conditions
- Be the primary resource for information related to health and safety
- Be effective advocates for the university community
Supervisors must see that all employees are properly trained in safe working procedures; they have safe tools and equipment, and they know how to use them properly; they routinely follow approved safety procedures; and their work environment is as free as possible from safety and health hazards.
Each individual haa a personal responsibility to act in a safe manner. Everyone can take positive actions that will minimize risks and prevent accidents. These actions should include maintaining a conscious awareness of safety, carefully following University and departmental safety guidelines, and promptly reporting unsafe conditions. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. The extent of responsibility an individual bears is directly proportional to the overall responsibilities for personnel, facilities, and equipment held by each individual.
By maintaining an effective health & safety program Terra Dotta University can provide a safe environment for the University community as a whole while it protects its limited resources from loss.
