Events & Activities
Terra Dotta University supports on- and off-campus activities as all events provide an opportunity to enhance academic and extra-curricular participation. All events require a formal review to minimize risk and to ensure that appropriate measures are taken. The Office of Risk Management provides assistance in planning and preparing for University-sponsored events. The following information includes some items you may need to consider when planning any on- or off-campus activity:
- Alcohol: If you are planning an event that includes alcohol, please review the University policies for the applicable alcohol activity. Also refer to your campus policies and procedures handbook for campus specific information on serving alcohol. If liquor is to be sold at an event, the event must be held at a licensed establishment.
- Camps: TDU gains liability from camp activities. Camp is defined as a university-sponsored on- or off-campus activity where registered participants are provided structured activities for academic or athletic improvement. These activities are not part of the University's main academic and athletic programs. Camp durations vary and may last one day up to several weeks, and may include overnight stay. Camps may be co=sponsored by Terra Dotta University and a non-TDU entity. Sponsoring entities should refer to the insurance and liability forms and waivers.
- International Travel: Terra Dotta University recognizes that international work and study experiences are integral to students, faculty, and staff by broadening their perspectives on intercultural diversity and relationships. Such travel may pose increased risks to participants and the University. The Office on International Programs, the International Student and Scholar Services Office, and the Office of Risk Management can provide information on international education, travel policies, protocols, and restrictions. International Travel Insurance is required before students, staff, and faculty are approved to travel abroad. Please refer to the Travel registration and Insurance sections of this site for more information.
- Off-Campus Activities: TDU encourages off-campus events and activities while recognizing the additional responsibilities and increased exposure of risk to the participants and the University. Contact the Office of Risk Management for more information pertaining to the guidelines, waivers, and insurance necessary to plan and host an off-campus even.
- On-Campus Activities: All events hosted on-campus, whether University-sponsored or not, may require additional scrutiny and review to minimize risk and to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to reduce risk. Events on-campus can be categorized according to the relative hazards and the risk exposure for both the participants and the University. Event coordinators can refer to the resources on this site during the planning of an event. Make sure to visit the event registration page to complete the necessary information and apply for event insurance.
